Drop to the tmp directory and download the Inadyn zip file.
cd /tmp
wget http://cdn.dyndns.com/inadyn.zip
Unzip the file and copy the linux version of the inadyn file located in /bin/linux to the /usr/bin directory.
unzip inadyn.zip
cp inadyn/bin/linux/inadyn /usr/bin/inadyn
We must change the file permission
chmod 755 /usr/bin/inadyn
Create or edit the configuration file for inadyn
nano /etc/inadyn.conf
In the inadyn.conf file must look something like this.
--username yourdyndnsusername --password yourdyndnspassword --alias yoursite1.dyndns.com --alias yoursite2.dyndns.com --update_period 6000 --background
Save the configuration file and change the file permission.
chmod 640 /etc/inadyn.conf
Now, we want inadyn to start every time the system rebooted.
export EDITOR=nano
crontab -e
In the crontab, add this at the very first line.
@reboot inadyn
Done! We can run Inadyn instantly by entering inadyn command in the terminal window.

This is very handy to have a step by step guide but do you reboot your linux box once a month so it can update your dyndns record ? Or did you pay for the upgrade so it does not expire each month ?
I have created before a service in webmin that ran once a week to run the inadyn but on a box that does not have webmin I am a little stuck it would be nice for a quick guide how to setup a cron job to finish this guide
PS before you add –background to the config you should save your conf and test it by
running inadyn just to make sure it all works
Jamestix:
Yes, I will always reboot my router once a month. I will post about cron job later. Thanks for visiting my blog.
The stupid box told me to type here so I did.
