Internet — Modem — Wireless Router — My Laptop

I have assigned the modem to use PPPoe connection and Dynamic or Static IP for the Wireless Router. That means I am connecting WAN connection through Wireless Router. I have no problem connecting to the internet by using this setting accept a few things. Somehow, I cannot update my windows xp and almost every site with submission button seems not to work. At first, I thougt it was the firewall and firefox that are blocking some of the protocols. After disabling all the firewall, the problem still remains. So, I tried connecting my laptop directly to the modem by using enthernet cable and it worked well.  From the admin panel in the Wireless router, I know I can connect to the internet using PPPoe. After spending several hours on the net, I finally found out on how to connect wan connction frm Wireless Router. The Modem need to be set using bridge connection before we can use the pppoe connection in the Wireless Router. After doing all this, I finnaly solve the problem.

Here is how I did.

1. Open the Terminal Window

2. Enter commands as below, all must be in super user mode.

su

vi /boot/grub/menu.ls

3. Add psmouse.proto=imps psmouse.resetafter=1 at the boot lines so it will start at boot session.

3. Reboot

Its weekend! I’ve just installed OpenSuse on my PC for the first time. I start to feel boring with Ubuntu so I decided to try out something else. I like the green concept of the OpenSuse distribution. Very serene.. haha.. According to the wiki, Suse was originally a German translation of Slackware. No wonder, I encountered the same hardware problem which I had experienced in Slackware 12 during my first installation of SuSE. I choose KDE as my preference of many desktop environment supported by SUSE. In ubuntu we have APT but in suse we have Yast. Pretty much new thing to me but experiencing new stuff is good. So from now on, my post is more about OpenSuse 10.3.

I bought a PMP last year but I lost the cd which provided along with it. Without the cd, I could not play any video because it contains the only converter that suit to this player. So I made a search on the net looking for the converter. If you have the same fate as me, you may found difficulties when trying to find the software. Luckily, I found the video converter for this model last night and I’ve re-upload it on RS for better mirror. It took me about 3 months before I found this software so I think this would help a lot of people out there who are looking for the same converter because this blog has a better index on both google and yahoo search engine.

Buli2 ada error time update cron di drupal punya admin panel klu guna proxy. Check punya check tau2 ni module RSS feeds yg bermasalah untuk berfungsi guna proxy. Nasip baik sy jumpa jg patch dia. Tp instruction untuk patch sy teda jumpa untuk novice drupal user. Sy tunjuk camana mau apply patch dia tp dalam linux saja.

1. First, download patch di sini.

2. Pastu upload dlm main directory guna ftp.

3. run ni command,

[root@centosbox web]# patch -b < proxy_10.patch

can't find file to patch at input line 8

Perhaps you should have used the -p or --strip option?

4. Pigi di admin panel di bahagian Administer > Site Configuration > Site Information. Dibawah dia ada ruangan proxy pastu isi ja ikut proxy yg sedang digunakan.

5. Update cron. Skrg nampak status dia hijau sudah tu.

*Dalam contoh diatas saya guna centos 5.1, drupal 6.1 dan patch versi 10. Sy ada cuba patch versi 11 tp mcm ada masalah ni.
